Sikkim is situated in the eastern Himalayas. It is the second smallest
state in India.Sikkim is famous for
Kangchenjunga (8,586 m),the third highest mountain in the world. Sikkim is an orchid
lover paradise.Orchids are found mostly in tropical regions upto 2100 m though there are
some at 3000 Mts.Gangtok is the capital of Sikkim.The scenery is spectacular and there are
excellent views of the entire Kangchenjunga Range from many points in the environs of the
city.Sikkim has an area of 7300 sq. km. It is situated at an altitude of 8,591 Mts. Teesta River is also known as
the lifeline of the State as it originated from the mysterious Cho Lhamu Lake and cutting
centrally through Sikkim.
